Want to make a major impact on dogs and cats in Houston? You could save hundreds of lives without having to personally foster. We are seeking Rescue Coordinators to help our Rescue Manager. This position is an online position that involves coordinating the rescue of animals from the shelter's euthanasia list by finding them foster homes to go to by texting known fosters who may be a good fit, sending plea emails, etc. This position will also assist in the placement of pets already in foster care who need new homes.
No prior rescue experience is needed, but rather a strong desire to make a big impact for urgent shelter pets.
Rescue Coordinators need to commit to working at least 2-3 hours each weekday between 1 pm and 5 pm primarily. This is a position for someone who is truly dedicated to saving lives and is a self-starter familiar with Gmail, Google Drive, and basic spreadsheets.
Background of Houston Pets Alive!:
Houston Pets Alive! is a 501(c)3 animal rescue. We use proven success tactics from other no kill cities, like Austin, to fill in gaps where resources are needed the most. Our focus is on high volume, high quality adoptions, high volume, high quality spay and neuter, political advocacy and community education.We currently help the pets who are at risk of being put to sleep in a shelter. We focus on animals who have been passed over by other rescue groups and shelters’ adoption programs and have no other option. Therefore, we are complimentary to other rescue efforts.

We are not an ordinary rescue, the animals in our program have been passed over by other rescue groups and shelter adoption programs. Every day we receive a list of animals who are at risk of euthanasia and acting as a safety net for our municipal shelters, we save the animals who have no other options.
We know that rescuing animals is a community effort and with the help from our volunteers we save as many animals as we can.
We are committed to developing programs alongside our local shelters, working with volunteers from our communities, and we are dedicated to saving the lives that others won’t, and together, we will continue to work to save even more lives.
