American Woman's non profit 501c3 organization focuses on STEM advancement for women and underrepresented minorities.
AMERICAN WOMAN'S UPCOMING ACTIVITIES:
- In September 2017, we will launch a pilot program to advance STEM in CPS schools by focusing on advancing college readiness and college prep.
- In TBD 2018 we plan to begin a women's and girls focused program by focusing on supporting women throughout their academic and professional experiences, and supporting efforts to retain women in the STEM workforce.
GRANT WRITING JOB DESCRIPTION:
Primary responsibilities include preparation of proposals and grant applications, as well as researching, identifying, developing and responding to public and private grant opportunities in the areas relative to STEM support for women or underrepresented minorities.
GRANT WRITING VOLUNTEER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Researches and identifies government, corporate, foundations and private funding prospects.
- Prepare proposals and grant applications.
- Contingent upon amount of experience may be asked to oversee other volunteers in specific writing purposes. (This is not mandatory.)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree with sufficient experience in grant writing and/or contract administration.
- Ability to demonstrate a proven track record in securing new funding opportunities; comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and identify funding opportunities for special programs.

Black Girls Movement, formerly American Woman, has a mission that matters more today than ever before: We fight systemic racism against Black girls by providing them with equal access to STEM education and resources. We are passionate about bridging the gap and increasing representation of Black women in STEM fields. We do this by connecting black female students interested in science, tech, engineering, and math with unique learning and mentoring opportunities. Currently, we’re serving high school girls, and we envision expanding our programming to serve Pre-K and kindergartners as well as elementary and middle school ages.
