Mission Statement
The mission of Vision for Children Charitable Foundation (VFC), is to provide free vision exams and corrective eyeglasses for underprivileged children both in the Bahamian islands, as well as in northeast Oklahoma.
Description
Optometrist Dr. Tom Vanderpool and his wife, Susan, established the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Vision for Children in 2015. They have been traveling to the Bahamian island of Bimini since 2008, providing free vision exams and corrective lenses to school-age children who would otherwise not receive this care as there is no access to optometric care on this economically dpressed island. Although Bimini is the primary focus of the foundation, we also serve underprivileged school children in northeast Oklahoma. Vision for Children works to raise funds to continue the services provided by Dr. Vanderpool.
