Motorcycle/Walk-a-Thon

Seeking an individual with extensive fundraising experience who is interested in volunteering for the "These Boots Still March" Veterans Motorcycle/Walk-a-Thon fundraising event with Smith Residences Veterans Village to redevelop 96 townhomes and build new construction of one Early Childhood Centers, Social Service Center and a Memorial Veterans Park.

Volunteer Team Ambassador Role: The Volunteer Team Ambassador is instrumental in the fight to house Homeless Veterans and their families. They are the recruit, coach and mentor to a small group of Volunteer Fundraising City Captains (5-10) for the "These Boots Still March" for Veterans Motorcycle/Walk-a-Thon event. Individuals in this role serve as the main point of contact for his or her Volunteer Fundraising City Captains and are an extended support for the team members themselves. They demonstrate a commitment to help teams meet and exceed their fundraising goals, utilize tools and resources, and engage in the mission of the Motorcycle/Walk-a-Thon event. The Volunteer Team Ambassador must be flexible and adaptable to the teams’ needs for information and tools, and their role will ensure teams and participants experience personal satisfaction while contributing to our goal to raise awareness about homeless Veterans across the United States.   1. Have an official "Walk Torch" made for the walk.
  2. Build relationships with Volunteer Fundraising City Captains and Volunteer Fundraising Coordinators before and during the Motorcycle/Walk-a-Thon event. Serve as the primary point-of-contact for his or her teams.
  3. Identify the weekly venue and method for team gatherings that works for the small group. Ensure regular ongoing communication with teams between meetings including quick response time.
  4. Work with the Smith Residences Veterans Village Lead to review fundraisings tools, ideas, and timelines for fundraising activities for teams.
  5. Motivate, encourage, and recognize teams through mentoring.
  6. Troubleshoot questions to ensure all team captains feel informed, equipped, and empowered to be successful in their role.
  7. Participate on national Volunteer Team Ambassador conference calls and meetings.
  8. Ensure all teams are knowledgeable and ready for the Motorcycle/Walk-a-Thon event by providing logistical guidance.
  9. Contact all forms of media to attend and cover the event, before and during the event.
  10. Send Donation Request Letter to local Walking Groups, Recreational Adult Walking Leagues, Power Walking, Fitness Walking & Bicycle Groups, Cycling Clubs, and Motor Cycle Groups who might support the Motor Cycle/Walk-A-Thon.
  11. Guide event participants to http://www.thesmithresidences.com/2017-events/ to register for the "These Boots Still March" for Veterans Motorcycle/Walk-a-Thon event.
Additional Qualifications: * Reliable and accountable to his or herself, Volunteer Fundraising City Captains, and Volunteer Fundraising Coordinators. * Knowledge of Motorcycle/Walk-a-Thon event and the mission of the Smith Residences Veterans Village. * Track record of fundraising and recruitment success. * Skills necessary for success: coaching, mentoring, organization, oral and written communication.

DOLL, INC. is dedicated to affordable low-income housing and wrap around services at its Smith Residences Veterans Village, consisting of 96 townhomes.

"These Boots Still March for Veterans" Motor Cycle/Walk event is to raise money through donations to help redevelop housing at its Smith Residences Veterans Village for men and women veterans.
