YOLA at HOLA Volunteer: Program Assistant

Responsibilities:

• Assisting with daily operations including signing in/ out students and class transitions, as well as classroom and event setup/ breakdown

• Greeting parents and students at the front desk, distributing program information and managing program sheets

• Aiding administrative staff in communicating with students and parents through the creation of fliers, phone calls home, and answering questions in the office and/or front desk.

• Supporting the tutoring program- helping students with homework, supervising students in the tutoring room, working collaboratively with the YOLA at HOLA Academic tutor.

• Leading students as required by staff including sign in/ out, in hallways, or in classrooms

• Other projects and duties as assigned, which could include but are not limited to supporting HOLA-wide initiative and related communications

Qualifications:

• Current student or graduate of a 2-year or 4-year college program

• Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for working with youth and families

• Capacity to supervise and manage groups of students to ensure their safety and wellbeing

• Interest in supporting K-12 students with academic

• Strong commitment to social justice

• Academic background or interest in Education or Social Work a plus

• Bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Korean preferred

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a self-directed way

• Positive Attitude

• Interest and ability to be a motivational mentor and role model for students as an artist, teacher, and citizen

Availability/ timeCommitment: Monday- Thursday 3:00pm- 7:00pm & Saturday 9am-12pm ;8-12 hours per week Compensation: school credit possible based on requirements of educational institution Great opportunity to get hands on experience!
