Do you enjoy helping others? Do you wish to give back to the community? Would you like to help the future adluts of our world? If so, we are the perfect place for you to volunteer.

SafeHouse of the Desert is a program for youth in crisis serving ages 11-17 years of age located in Thousand Palms, CA.

While at SafeHouse you will have the opportunity to gain experience in the child care field in the setting of a crisis shelter and counseling program. We also hope to provide our Interns with exposure to all of the agencies we work with including, but not limited to Child Protective Services, Law Enforcement, Probation Departments and the Rape Crisis Center. Interns will be trained for all of their position responsibilities and they will continue to receive training throughout their internship.

Mission Statement

Operation SafeHouse, with community support, provides emergency shelter, intervention and outreach services to runaway, homeless, and other youth in crisis. SafeHouse Offers youth positive alternatives to becoming victims of the streets.

Description

We are a shelter for youth at risk, in crisis, or a runaway. SafeHouse of the Desert will provide a critical alternative to young people whose lives are in turmoil. We have a 3 or 4 week program. Our 4 week program is our drug and alcohol program. Our goal is to keep the family unit together.

Age range is from 11 to 17.
