Calling all interested in nature, parks and the environment. The Lake Roland Nature Center is hosting a Maryland Master Naturalist Training this spring.
Maryland Master Naturalist training consists of 60 hours of classroom and hands-on experience in a variety of subjects such as botany, entomology, herpetology, and ornithology. Classes are taught by university professors and experts in the field.
Those who complete the training are then committed to volunteer 40 hours/year at Lake Roland to maintain certification as a Master Naturalist.
$250 fee for the class.

Lake Roland Nature Council cooperates with the Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks to plan recreational and educational programs and activities that take advantage of the natural and manmade attributes of Lake Roland. These include multiple trails for hiking, biking and strolling; a dog park, pavilions, and waterfront activities such as canoeing and kayaking. The park also offers opportunities to enjoy rare plant life that exists only in the serpentine barrens ecosystem. The council works to protect these natural resources through volunteer events.
