We know that not everyone has the capacity to take off three or four hours off of work, so we are really excited to offer micro volunteer shifts to our community partners. This "micro" shifts would support our Community Center where clients are able to access direct services, including SVdP’s Clothing Closet. The Clothing Closet is set up similar to a mini-thrift store where clients can choose from a variety of gently used clothing, shoes, and accessories. The bursts of work will provide the community center team an opportunity to complete a lot in a small amount of time, as well as provide a consistent flow of volunteers, so that our incoming clothing donations flow out quickly to clients. This is an opportunity for groups of 5-10 volunteers.Volunteer shifts are available 11am to 1pm or 1pm to 3pm; shifts are available Tuesday - Friday

During the shift volunteers will help to sort through the bounty of donated clothes we receive at our West Oakland campus to identify clean, gently-worn, seasonally appropriate clothing for men, women and children to be distributed in our Community Center Clothing Closet. In addition, volunteers will assist in selecting next-to-new, fashionable clothes that we can sell at our thrift stores, the sale of which helps support the many wonderful direct service programs we run. Volunteers will also assist organizing, tidying, and hanging up clothing in the Clothing Closet.
