Volunteer Boat Shop Assistants working together to build a beautiful wooden boat!

About

Did you know that we have a working boat shop at the Foss Waterway Seaport? We are always looking for volunteers! At the boat shop, we strive to preserve the past, acknowledge and encourage the present, and identify and plan for the future. We are involved in many projects including repairing and restoring historic vessels as part of museum exhibits, repairing boat cradles by strengthening or rebuilding the frames, and building new boats. Volunteers will also act as docents in welcoming any museum guests that come by the boat shop and sharing your knowledge about the boat shop and the museum.

No boat building experience is required! All safety and power tool use training will be provided!

The boat shop is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10:00am - 4:00pm. There must be a minimum of 2 people in the boat shop (1 skilled) in order to use the power tools. Volunteer hours are based purely on your availability - we welcome any time you can come in and participate!

If interested please contact AmeriCorps Member and Volunteer Coordinator, Paige Jones or learn more on our website at http://www.fosswaterwayseaport.org/join-support/volunteer
