ORGANIZATION: Hunger Intervention Program

  • 13 people are interested

If you have a passion for food or nutrition, come help lead a hands on, interactive cooking class for low-income adults, families, and youth! Each class consists of a nutrition lesson and cooking instruction, with the participants cooking and preparing the meal while instructors provide cooking skills, techniques, budgeting & shopping ideas, and nutritional information from our curriculum. The class is a part of Cooking Matters, a national program from Share Our Strength, that empowers low-income individuals and families to create healthy, nutritious meals on budgets. This class is dynamic and draws a lot from the participants own experience and interests, creating a positive class community that learns from one another. Come cook with us! We are looking for a class assistant!

We have two class times that need help beginning on January 9th; 11am to 1pm (Tuesdays) & 1pm to 3pm (Fridays)

Mission Statement

The mission of Hunger Intervention Program (HIP) is to increase food security for underserved populations in north King County through nutritious meals, educational programs, and advocacy.
