The purpose of this volunteer position is to improve the patient and family experience along with patient-related health outcomes by increasing patient knowledge and understanding of their condition through greater access to health care information.
Specifically, volunteers in this position will:
Proactively go from patient-room to patient-room to explain the health information request process to patients and their family members
Assist patients in the completion of the Health Information Request Form using an iPad supplied by the Medical Library.
Round on patients and their families to determine and meet their comfort needs (extra pillow, blanket, refill waters, personal belongings within reach, etc.)
Socialize with and spend time visiting patients as a listening companion
