Workforce Volunteers/Guest Speakers

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Boys & Girls Club of Carson

Workforce Volunteers would be guest speakers during our College Bound Workshops on Thursdays (time is flexible: 3-4pm or 4-5pm or 5-6pm). The volunteer would offer students information about their job or career and the steps they took to get to their current position. Ideally, this would help give our youth an idea what career path they would like to pursue.

With an increase in demand in "skilled trades" and "soft skills" it is vital that BGCC prepare members to meet the demands of the 21 st century workplace.

Last year, 100% of members being case managed graduated with their high school diploma of which 81% enrolled in post-secondary studies. BGCC is committed to the educational growth and enhancement of all its members.

With 19% not accessing post-secondary studies but graduating on time with their diploma we are seeking to implement a more streamlined process to train and place these and other potential members like them in career/vocational pathway programs that will guarantee their employability by graduation.

If you are interested in becoming a Workforce Volunteer please contact Katleen Hernandez, Volunteer Liaison, at khernandez@bgccarson.org or 310-522-0500.
