Help a Forest Grow!

In fall 2016, the RCDSMM and many different community groups, families, and individuals came together to plant 200 baby oaks in the old Rodeo Grounds, down in lower Topanga State Park. We are hopeful that these trees will grow into a forest for future generations to retreat to and enjoy. But, the work of hand planting a forest is far from over. Although the rains this winter have given our new oaks a good start, they will need help to survive their first spring and summer.

We are asking for help from people committed to a greener and more tree-filled future to help us water and weed the new trees from 10-12am on Saturday March 4, May 6,June 3, July 8, September 9, October 7, and November 4. You will need clos e toed shoes to hike across the creek, and if you can bring a gallon of water along to help, that would be fantastic! We will provide gloves and tools to weed, as well as more water!

Meet at the entrance gate on Topanga Canyon Blvd, located on the south-bound side, approximately 500 yards from the intersection with Pacific Coast Highway. Park along the shoulder of Topanga Canyon Blvd (near the old Rodeo Grounds Rd) or at the Topanga Ranch Motel.

We can't do this without you! This is an excellent opportunity for scout groups, students needing community service hours, anyone who wants to help a forest grow!

Please RSVP on our Eventbrite page to let us know what day or dates you can come lend a helping hand.
