Mission Statement

In 1978 Kermit the Frog accompanied by his creator, Jim Henson, cut the ribbon officially opening the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta. The Center was the vision of founder Vincent Anthony for a new arts institution in Atlanta - a magical place where art and education intersect to stimulate creativity and learning. Today the Center is the largest nonprofit in the U.S. dedicated to the art of puppetry. Widely regarded as a cultural treasure, the Center delights audiences of all ages with sophisticated, fully staged puppetry shows; museum exhibits putting puppetry into global, cultural and historical contexts; and arts infused education programs meeting state or national curriculum standards to enhance classroom learning in a unique way.
