Remove garlic mustard at Pine Bend Bluffs SNA

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Friends of the Mississippi River

Located just 20 minutes south of St. Paul, Pine Bend Scientific and Natural Area is home to some of the best views of the Upper Mississippi River and is a welcome respite from the bustle of the cities. On Thursday, May 4th, from 6 to 8 PM, volunteers will be led on a short hike, after which they will work closely with Friends of the Mississippi River (FMR) staff to remove the invasive species garlic mustard. Although a serious threat, garlic mustard is fairly easy to identify and quick to pull by hand. Volunteers should be able to see a big difference in just a couple hours of work.

Capacity is limited. To register, visit us at http://fmr.org/events/2017/05/04/remove-garlic-mustard-pine-bend-bluffs-sna. This event is open to all. No experience is necessary, all tools and training will be provided.

Mission Statement

Friends of the Mississippi River (FMR) engages people to protect, restore and enhance the Mississippi River and its watershed in the Twin Cities region.

Description

Friends of the Mississippi River is proud to work with roughly 3,000 volunteers annually.

We keep volunteering simple, fun and satisfying -- there are no applications, and you can sign up for one event or several. We list events especially in need of volunteers here on VolunteerMatch.com, but maintain a full calendar of 60+ events a year at www.fmr.org/events.

Our project work includes conservation and restoration of natural areas and habitat, education on watershed protection issues, and organizing activities that connect the public to the Mississippi River.
