Hospice patients, particularly ones with dementia, Parkinson's or cancer, appreciate volunteers who talk, read and play games with them during visits. Many get very lonely, so the really enjoy visits. Patients in nursing homes or do not have families especially appreciate the visits. When patients do have family, the relatives are very thankful the great gift of your friendly presence, especially when it gives family members time to get other work done. Heartland serves patients throughout Livingston and Oakland Counties.
