Calling all nature lovers!

Silverwood needs volunteer docents to help lead guided nature education hikes for visitors to the sanctuary. Groups may consist of: special interest adult groups, colleges, or primary school groups. Docents can lead these groups along the trails in Silverwood Wildlife Sanctuary on interpretive hikes or may participate in other faucets at special events.

This is an opportunity for individuals who are passionate about protecting our enviornment and who want to give back to the community. No experience required! We will train docents to be experts in the natural, historical, and social history of Silverwood and provide support and guidance during the learning process.

Benefits of volunteering at Silverwood:

  • Earn community service hours
  • Learn about the habitat that you call home
  • Get some exercise and fresh air!
  • Build public speaking and group leadership skills
  • Build resume, particularly for those in the education or environmental fields
  • Connect people with nature
