ORGANIZATION: Community Cycling Center
Please visit the new page to apply.
Are you interested in helping improve people's lives through bicycling? Are you a Spanish and English speaker? A respectful and patient communicator? The Community Cycling Center is seeking a bilingual (Spanish/English) volunteer to support a community mechanics workshop happening on Friday, March 24th at Living Cully Plaza with the group Andando en Bicicletas en Cully.
Volunteers will assist in translation where necessary for this beginners mechanic's workshop. The volunteers in this role are also responsible for helping maintain a positive educational atmosphere. Volunteers will be provided with a workshop lesson plan and brief training prior to the event.
In 2010, we began working with a group of Hacienda residents to organize events and programs to promote bicycling. This group of organizers calls themselves Andando en Bicicletas en Cully (ABC), which translates to "Riding Bikes in Cully." The major focus of ABC’s work is to create community by hosting bike rides, advocating for bicycle storage and safe routes to school, and providing basic bicycle maintenance and training to friends and neighbors.
Bicycle mechanic skills welcome, but not required. Volunteers with education experience encouraged to apply.
To Apply:
Please send a brief letter of interest describing your experience and what attracts you to the work of the Community Cycling Center to volunteer@communitycyclingcenter.org.

Description
The Community Cycling Center, founded in 1994, helps broaden access to bicycling and its benefits through our hands-on programs, volunteer projects, and neighborhood bike shop. Our Commitment to the Community:
Bicycles are a vehicle for change. All year long, we strengthen our community and protect our environment by making used bikes accessible to people of all ages, abilities, and incomes. Our earn-a-bike programs help low-income youth and adults become self-sufficient, healthy, and safe.
Bicycles should be accessible to everyone. Our professional retail bike shop sells refurbished bicycles at a range of reasonable prices and offers a full menu of services.
It takes a community to do what we do. Bicycles and parts are donated from individuals, institutions and supporting businesses. Churches, businesses, schools, and neighborhood groups hold bike collections to help collect bikes. Volunteers help us recycle, fix up program bikes, and coordinate events
