VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) was founded in 1965 as a national service program to fight poverty in America. In 1993, VISTA was incorporated into the AmeriCorps network of programs.
Today, more than 46 million Americans live in poverty. AmeriCorps VISTA taps the skills, talents and passion of more than 8,000 Americans annually to support community efforts to overcome poverty.

Member Duties : Increase the overall capacity of the City of Austin’s (CoA) Digital Inclusion Program. Main responsibilities include the management of the office’s Customer Relationship Management (Including content and distribution management of the newsletter and maintenance of the office’s contact lists), community outreach (including development of marketing and outreach collateral), research and analysis related to digital inclusion and planning and facilitation of Digital Empowerment Community of Austin meetings. The VISTA will support CoA Digital Inclusion staff as needed which includes tasks related to meeting preparation, review and analysis of 2017 Residential Technology Survey findings and leveraging opportunities in Austin to further the goals of the Digital Inclusion Program.
Service Description : The Telecommunications and Regulatory Affairs (TARA) Office's Digital Inclusion Program vision includes every Austin resident having an opportunity to be fully engaged in digital society, with access to and use of digital and communications technology. The Program facilitates research related to technology access and use, community engagement to coordinate city-wide efforts and leverages existing resources to achieve the City’s Digital Inclusion goals. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team that is on the front line of efforts to bridge the digital divide in Austin, Texas.
