Our Comforting Paws Program demonstrates that positive human-animal interventions improve the physical, emotional and psychological loves of our patients at Hospice of Anson County. Anyone who has felt a connection with a pet and experienced that unconditional love, understanding, and acceptance, know the value of a pet’s companionship. Please contact us if you think you and your dog would like to be part of our Comforting Paws Program.
DOGS must be registered and certified through Paws4 People, Therapy Dogs International, Canine Caregivers, or Pet Partners. All required vaccinations (shot records) must be up-to-date. Copies of pet certification/vaccinations are kept in volunteer’s file
Therapy dog owners must attend 12hr hospice volunteer training.

Join our amazing team of volunteers!
Hospice of Union County and Hospice of Anson County is a compassionate team of specially trained healthcare professionals and volunteers- we also are a family. Our main campus and hospice house is located at 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd in Monroe. Our satellite office in Anson County is located at 919 E. Caswell Street, Wadesboro.
We have volunteer opportunities in the following areas:
-Patient Care Volunteers
-Administrative Volunteers
-Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteers
-Pet Therapy
-Music Therapy
-Event Volunteers
But it takes a special person to be a volunteer- be the ONE who makes a difference!
Hospice is a special way of caring for people who are living with a life-limiting illness as well as their families and caregivers. At Hospice of Union County and Anson County, our goal is to help people live their last days as comfortably as possible, surrounded by family and friends.
