POST volunteers on a hike!

The Bay Area is a wonderful mix of urban city and open space, and here at POST, we work to protect not only open space but farmland and parkland as well. Since POST's inception, over 75,000 acres of land have been preserved.

We could not do this wonderful work without the support of community members and volunteers alike. As a POST Ambassador, you will support the outreach program by doing things as simple as sharing links to stories about POST, sharing events online, or volunteering at POST Community Events. POST communicates with Ambassadors twice a month through a newsletter, and Ambassadors typically attend 4-6 events per year.

All Ambassadors are asked to attend a 2-hour POST Ambassador Training that covers communication guidelines, frequently asked questions, safety tips, and other topics related to this fun role. Our Fall Training will take place on November 3rd at POST's office in Palo Alto, from 2-5 PM with a happy hour to follow.

Mission Statement

POST protects and cares for open space, farms and parkland in and around Silicon Valley.

Description

POST is shaping a vibrant ecosystem for Silicon Valley - a network of protected lands that provide scenic beauty, clean air and water, locally grown food, and a place for people and wildlife to thrive. These lands will be preserved forever so that present and future generations can live in harmony with nature, in a careful balance of urban and rural landscapes that make our region extraordinary.

Since its founding in 1977, POST has been responsible for saving more than 70,000 acres as permanent open space and parkland in San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties. These lands are now part of the National Park System, National Wildlife Refuge System, California State Parks, county and city parks, regional preserves and private farmland. They are places of natural beauty and abundance that have come to define our region.
