Building Community Through Volunteering

Overview

One Brick Chicago is looking for a volunteer to join our Executive Team as the Chapter Director. Our Executive Team is composed of three sub-teams and the Chapter Director. The goal of the Executive Team is to run the day to day operations of the chapter, including setting up a calendar of fun, commitment-free volunteering, recruiting and training event management, setting up social events, and communicating with internal and external constituents. The Executive Team meets monthly to give updates and support each other's work.


The Chapter Director oversees the day to day operations of all team including delegation of workloads and provides overall strategic direction and guidance to the chapter (particularly as related to partnerships, marketing, and fundraising) to ensure the chapter is moving forward.


Chapter Director Duties:

  • Manage Executive Team;

    • Events Team works with our nonprofit parts to set up the calendar of volunteer events;

    • Recruitment & Training is responsible for the Event Management Team;

    • Volunteer & Community Relations Team oversees communications, marketing, and social activities for the chapter;

  • Schedule and host monthly Executive Team Meetings;

  • Attend monthly Chapter Director calls and annual CD retreat;

  • Hold bi-annual all-hands meetings in collaboration with the Exec Team;

  • Disseminate relevant information from national office;

  • Manage budget for chapter in collaboration with the ED;

  • Assist Executive Team in setting annual and quarterly goals;

  • Assist Executive Director in submitting for and handing out Presidential Service Awards;

  • Develop relationships with community partners and provide ongoing support to current partnerships in collaboration with the Community Relations Coordinator;

  • Handle duties caused by gaps in management.


Desired Skills & Qualities:

  • Enthusiasm for One Brick’s mission and growth;

  • Knowledge of and experience with nonprofits and volunteering;

  • Event planning and management experience;

  • Ability to work closely as a member of a diverse team;

  • Strong communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented;

  • One Brick experience a plus;

  • One year commitment for 6-10 hours of work per week including attendance at monthly Executive Team meetings.


We’re looking for an enthusiastic person who is passionate about volunteering and excited to help One Brick Chicago grow, to make at least one year commitment for 6-10 hours of work per week!

After each volunteer event our volunteer team invites everyone to gather at a local restaurant or coffee shop where they can get to know one another in a relaxed social setting. Additionally we host regular social events for our volunteers to connect to one another and to welcome new volunteers to our community.
