Montgomery Parks will be commemorating the centennial of the United States' involvement with World War 1 in 2017 with a year-long program entitled "Sowing the Seeds of Victory: Montgomery County Farms During World War I" hosted at the Agricultural History Farm Park in Derwood.
Help us kickoff the new season and program with an activity-filled launch weekend, Saturday and Sunday, April 29th and 30th, 2017!
We are in search of two kinds of volunteers - those who can help with our different learning areas; and those that would like to be part of history in costumes relevant to the time. Learning area volunteers will assist with our information booth, various hands-on activity stations, set-up and take down, parking, and many other tasks. Costumed living history interpreters will help the visitors learn about farm life in 1917 through hands-on activities, crafts, demonstrations, and tours.
This is a great opportunity to earn SSL hours, have a volunteer weekend with your business or organization, or just come out to learn about and experience the year 1917 in Montgomery County!
Volunteer one day or both!
