WOMEN NEEDED to Creatively Collaborate on Non Profit Event

As a non-profit in Austin, we are looking for women who would like to be part of growing and building this non-profit in multiple ways. We need leadership help, event planning help, project management help. If the description below inspires you- just give us a shout!

Our mission is to empower the women in Austin through friendship and generosity. Basically we exist because we are hosting a giant clothing swap called "Grateful Thread" in May for all the ladies of Austin regardless of race, socioeconomic status, political belief, etc. We want all the women in our community to feel loved and surrounded by sisterhood, and to benefit from others' generosity. The event is free and is not a fundraiser. It's a big fat girly garage sale, minus the money (free tokens instead, ha!). We're collecting clothing donations in advance, then everyone will come to our free shopping event and take clothes home with them. There's no hidden agenda; it's that simple.

BUT It isn't about just clothes- we want to give services to these women too. We want to make them feel whole and taken care of and loved. We are looking to offer make up, nail and hair services - in order to make all women of Austin feel pampered.

We are in need of anything and everything for the event, including:

- Services- Hairdos, cuts, waxes, nails, whatever is possible!
- Donated Women's clothes, shoes, accessories --- We can collect from around Austin (currently looking for drop off spaces)
- Support and volunteer hours for any employees or partners for day of the event help as "personal shoppers" /"Stylists"
- Any ideas or brainstorming you have to have this be a successful event for Austin Women.

The GRATEFUL THREAD is more than a chance to clean out your closet. It's an opportunity for the women of Austin to come together and say, "What's mine is yours!" We're collecting lightly-worn women's clothes and accessories in order to turn around and share them with the women in our paths.

And here's the deal: we want to share the good stuff!

We're pulling items from our closets that we love, but are ready to share with another woman who might need it even more. The GRATEFUL THREAD is a chance to love our neighbor. It's a chance to be generous, plus, it's just plain fun!

On Friday, May 12, from 6 -- 9p, join us for the swap. Be sure to RSVP for the location! This is a come-and-go gathering, so come for a minute or stay a while! We'll have some surprises for you to enjoy as you 'shop' for something new-to-you...and it's all FREE! Don't miss this chance to get to know other women in our city while picking up a few things you might need. We'll see you there!
