VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION

Title: Front Desk Assistant Volunteer

Supervisor: Volunteer Coordinator

Hours and Times: Daily-Monday-Friday, 10am-2pm and 2pm-5pm

Description: Almost Home offers daily volunteer opportunities for volunteers interested in working at our front desk. The Front Desk volunteer is responsible for answering phones, welcoming guests, distributing collateral, assisting members, and regulating entrance to the building. This volunteer opportunity is available from Monday to Friday in two shifts: 10am to 2pm and 2pm to 5pm. Hours for the Front Desk shifts are consistent throughout the year except during holidays and special events.

  • Phone and safety procedure training

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Administrative and clerical knowledge
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer service experience
  • Attention to detail; ability to effectively multitask
  • Ability to work with confidential information

Tasks:

  • Answer the telephone; screen and direct calls to the appropriate staff members
  • Answer the door, and maintain the organizations safety policies by regulating door traffic
  • Complete Inquiry forms when the Client Support Coordinator is absent
  • Greet visitors and monitor guests waiting for an appointment
  • Interact with members and their children in a manner consistent with the mission and vision of Almost Home
  • Provide additional administrative support to the agency by performing such tasks as working on mailings, conducting grant research, supporting outreach initiatives, and editing documents
  • Keep visitor material updated and workspace clean and accessible
