Want to make a difference in the lives of local childhood cancer patients and survivors, and their families? Look no further!
Camp Casco is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works to provide sources of lifelong emotional support to local children with cancer and their families. Our capstone program provides a free weeklong sleep-away summer camp to childhood cancer patients and survivors in Massachusetts. Campers enjoy a fun-filled week of traditional summer camp activities at a YMCA campsite in the Berkshires, including canoeing, swimming, archery, and indoor rock climbing. Parents rest easy, knowing that their child is in the capable hands of our experienced camp counselors and a professional medical staff. The entire week of camp is provided free-of-cost, including transportation to and from the campsite. Bonds formed at camp are strengthened through participation in free family socials throughout the year. Our goal is to build supportive relationships that will persist well beyond the week of camp itself.
We are currently seeking one Volunteer Camp Counselor for our 2017 camp session. The week of camp will take place Monday 8/21 through Saturday 8/26. Volunteer will need to arrive 1 day early (Sunday 8/20) for on-site training. Volunteer must be able to commit to be at camp for the entire camp session.
Eligible volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and pass a background check. A nonrefundable application fee of $25 will be due at the time your application is submitted, to help us cover the costs of volunteer staffing for the week. If your application is selected for further consideration, you will be contacted to schedule a video interview with our Camp Leadership Team. This space will be filled on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to apply right away!

Camp Casco builds community for childhood cancer patients, survivors, and families in New England through amazing camp experiences. We create a space for kids to reclaim their childhood- to laugh and play. All of our campers have been affected by childhood cancer, and this unifying environment is liberating. At camp, cancer instantly becomes the least remarkable thing about you - a welcome relief for those who have felt defined by this label in everyday life.
Research shows that summer camps for children with cancer reduce disease-related anxiety, improve self-image, increase independence, build social skills, and ultimately improve psychosocial outcomes. We provide these benefits to New England kids free-of-cost, giving patients, survivors, and siblings the chance to make lasting memories and build lifelong friendships.
