TEACHING SKILLS THAT SAVES LIVES
Safety Around Water Week SONOMA COUNTY FAMILY YMCA
A large percentage of children drown within 6-10 feet of safety. Most of these drownings happen because of a lack of basic water safety knowledge and skills. If children possess even the most basic swimming skills, their risks of drownings decrease substantially. Learning the basic skills in our lessons plans builds a sense of accomplishments in children and helps prevent drowning.
*This program is designed for children who have had little to no swimming experience.
From Monday, March 20th to Friday, March 24th, 2017 Sonoma County Family YMCA will be teaching kids and families what it means to be safe around water and we need your help! 30-minute lessons are available at 3:00, 3:35, 4:10, 4:45, 5:20, 5:55, and 6:30pm.
* Volunteers are needed to help between these times for various activities in and out of the water.
* We are in need of volunteers who are fluent in Spanish to help with check-in, guide families toward and around the facilities/deck, and explain the program.
