CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER
The City of Manchester Parks and Recreation together with Missouri Master Naturalist, Great Rivers Chapter will host a three date event streak for clearing Bush Honeysuckle from their municipal park, the Paul A. Schroeder Park, 359 Old Meramec Station Road, Manchester, MO 63021.
This is designed to educate residents to the damage this shrub is causing to our natural communites, how to identify it and eradicate it.
Tuesday, March 7th will be an all-day event with all the Manchester staff dedicated to the activity with chain saws, and mulcher. Saturday mornings, the 11th and 18th will be lead by Missouri Master Naturalists. These dates are within the Honeysuckle Sweeps Week sponsored by Missouri Botanical Garden's BiodiverseCity Initiative.
Meet at 8:30 at the pavilion next to the tennis courts on the right when you pull into the park. Bring sturdy shoes, work gloves, loppers and bottled water. Children 10 and older are welcome but must be supervised by a parent throughout the event. Saturday’s events will be completed around 11:30AM. Tuesday’s all-day event will break for lunch and work into the afternoon.
Contact Becky at the Manchester Parks and Recreation office if you plan to attend. Be specific on which date or dates you wish to attend. Her number is (636)391-6326 ext. 400. They need a contact list in case of cancellation due to severe weather.
