Volunteer at the Irish Road Rover 5K to support Habitat! Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland is in need of traffic volunteers at the Irish Road Rover Race on Sunday, March 6 in Portland. This annual race through the Old Port raises critical funds which allow us to keep building homes for Maine families in need.
Volunteers will meet in the Old Port at 10AM to be in place for the 11AM race start. Everyone will be able to leave around 12-12:30 depending on their position.
Organize a group of coworkers, church members, or friends for a great day helping Habitat. Volunteers younger than 18 must volunteer with an adult 21 years or older.
We will have volunteers staffed all over the 5K route helping with traffic control. Sign up online at https://signup.com/go/vOFordB. If you'd like more information, email kate@habitatme.org.

Mission Statement
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland mission is to eliminate poverty housing in the Greater Portland area . Habitat for Humanity is a people-to-people partnership, drawing prospective Habitat families and comĀmunities together with volunteers and resources to build decent, affordable housing for families whose income is above public housing guidelines and who are unable to qualify for conventional mortgages. Qualified families are given a "hand up", not a hand out, paying a monthly no-interest mortgage to Habitat. These monies, in turn, go back into building more simple, decent, affordable homes. Habitat is committed to the development and uplifting of families and communities, not only to the construction of houses.
Description
- Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland (HFHGP) was founded in 1985 as a private, non-profit 501c3 organization. We are committed to the development and uplifting of families and communities, not only to the construction of houses. To date, we have completed 46 homes in partnership with working families in Cumberland County.
