We are asking for your help in order to have a mobile food drop for our clients. A give away is when Second Harvest Food Bank (our food bank partner) brings a truckload of fresh vegetables, fruit, breads, pastries, and sometimes "wild card" items such as snacks and drinks.
We are anticipating approximately 20 pallets (approximately 20,000+ pounds) of food to be delivered between 10am to 1130am. Sorry for the large window but there is no way to narrow it at this time.
We will need the following:
2-4 staff/volunteers registering clients
20-30 staff/volunteers handing out food
5-10 staff/volunteers directing traffic flow
I am planning to have two shifts, 10-1 (morning) and 12-3 (afternoon). If you are able to help the whole day, please sign up for both shifts.
This event is designed for clients to 'drive thru' and staff/volunteers will be loading cars as they drive through the traffic pattern of each pallet.
Everyone will be asked to wear sneakers (close toed shoes), and shorts will be allowed (no short shorts please, stay within dress code). You want to bring sunscreen and a hat too.
We will have plenty of cold water on hand but you may want to bring power snacks and you are welcome to participate in our community lunch.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask Paula.
