The Financial goal and end results of the Event:

Raise $20,000 enabling H.Y.P.E. to Empower, Inc. to transform the lives of youth, young adults, families, and communities living with HIV. Our youngest member aimed to enroll in our program will be 5 years old and the oldest 30. (The families we serve are affected with HIV and are linked to the individuals who are a part of our organization 5-30 age range) Through our comprehensive and relevant services at H.Y.P.E. which involve community service, HIV education, academic education, and self and social empowerment, the proceeds from the event will allow us to reach 300 individuals and families this year, and impacting almost 1,000 lives.

We aim to cater to everyone in the community who needs attention and assistance regarding HIV, however, our main focus will be the age range mentioned above.

Goal of Event:

Gear Up for HIV Awareness Charity Motorcycle Ride & Health Rally (NYHAAD) is geared towards African American motorcyclists and motorcycle enthusiasts that are parents, and will provide a platform to help parents learn how to have conversations with their adolescents and young adults surrounding consent and making safer, healthier choices regarding sexual health, as well as increase awareness, educate, and mobilize African Americans. The escorted charity ride benefits the Ride It Forward grant aiding community-based organizations that provide HIV/AIDS services to African Americans. The health rally is offering FREE HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia, hepatitis c & glucose testing, FREE BP checks, massages, and workshops for parents and the community.

Responsibilities of Committee

The primary responsibility of the Fundraising Event Committee is to ensure that H.Y.P.E. to Empower, Inc. meets their goal of raising $10,000 by actively fundraising for the event. The Committee will also be responsible for the overall planning of the Event and for working with the board, Excusive Director, and other volunteers to implement.

Responsibilities

  • Understand requirements for each event
  • Plan event with attention to financial and time constraints
  • Book venues and schedule speakers
  • Research vendors (catering, decorators, musicians etc.) and choose the best combination of quality and cost
  • Negotiate with vendors to achieve the most favorable terms
  • Recruit personnel
  • Manage all event operations (preparing venue, invitations etc.)
  • Do final checks at the day of the event (e.g. tables, technology) to ensure everything meets standards
  • Oversee event happenings and act quickly to resolve problems
  • Evaluate event’s success and submit reports

Preferred Skills / qualifications / experience: Artistic ability, design experience, ability to communicate a vision in keeping with the theme, teamwork skills, eye for detail, flowering arranging skills, imagination, organizational skills, Proficient in MS Office, communication and negotiation ability, Able to handle stress and remain calm, Problem-solving ability

Description

About our founder:
On March 28, 2010, on his eighteenth birthday, Robert was diagnosed with AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome). In December of the same year, he was also diagnosed with Cancer. Despite these lives changing events, Robert prevailed. With much prayer and strong will he beat cancer and became HIV undetectable (controlled).

After three years of living with the virus, Robert formed his own organization, HIV Positive Youth That Pledge to Empower Themselves and Others or (H.Y.P.E). H.Y.P.E was created from inspiration, love, and compassion.


About H.Y.P.E. to Empower, Inc.:

H.Y.P.E. to Empower, Inc. aims to transform the lives of children, youth, young adults, families, and communities living with HIV. H.Y.P.E.’s targeted population are HIV positive children, youth, and young adults between the ages of 13-30 years old, and their families affected by HIV.

Our comprehensive and relevant inactivates involve community services, HIV-education, academic education, counseling, medical, social, and professional support, and self and social empowerment.

In addition to our direct services for HIV positive individuals and communities, we also aim to provide our skills and expertise to persons, groups, organizations, and businesses who wish to utilize the HYPE model in targeting areas where they wish to make a difference.
