OBJECTIVE: Add an enrichment component to the City of San Jose Recreational Preschool program to expand their knowledge and increasing the quality of the program.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Preschool Enrichment Activity Volunteer will plan and deliver lessons for the Enrichment Activities portion of the City of San Jose Recreational Preschool Program. Enrichment activities will be of the volunteers choosing in their area of their expertise. All activities will be approved by the lead preschool teacher prior to the implementation. Activities will need to be designed for Preschool age and be offered once a week for 1 hour. Volunteers are expected to commit to one full school year.

  • Develop lesson plans in the areas of expertise for Preschool age children.

  • Implement interactive components into instruction.

  • Provide a learning environment that is inclusive for all students.

  • Provide feedback to Lead Teacher and Programs Manager on individual student progress and/or struggles on a consistent basis.

REQUIREMENTS: Comfort working with Preschool age children. All volunteers must complete a background check through the City of San Jose volunteer program. Abide by all of the City of San Jose Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services procedures and policies.
