Unity Center is currently a small non-profit organization focused on youth programs for the Clark County community with hopes to expand, reach, and empower all kids in our community who need additional guidance, support, and hope. Unity Center staff believe it is our job to bring children to the light and support them to be productive members of the community.

Job Title: Executive Assistant

Hours of Work: ~20 hours a week/ flexible time and telework available

Department: Administration & Youth Programs

Supervisor: Executive Director, Curtis Kimbrough

General Job Description: Gain self-directed administrative and youth program experience by working with the amazing non-profit Unity Center staff and board in a calm, relaxing, collaborating atmosphere that is community based to help build the youth friendly welcoming environment for all youth, including high-risk, at-risk, low income, and historically non-dominant groups. This position will have freedom of creativity and be able to participate in many professional development and networking opportunities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist or act on behalf of Unity Center Executive Director
  • Answer to or screens calls/emails/mail and respond as necessary
  • Independently or partner to create, update, and maintain forms, newsletters, manuals, policies, procedures, and other applicable materials
  • Conduct research and analysis of topics and information and present findings
  • Schedule, coordinate and/or assist in planning many aspects of Unity Center and/or the youth programs during non-school breaks (school holidays and breaks)
  • Assist in or oversee Unity Center and/or youth program activities (school break camps, hikes, etc.)

Minor Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for other Unity Center staff projects and initiatives, like Gift to Dial, as it relates to major duties and responsibilities (i.e. creating materials or overseeing related activities)
  • Train, hire, and supervise other staff

Qualifications for the Job:

  • High school diploma or experience working with non-profit and/or youth
  • No convictions of or associations to crimes involving children or domestic violence

Key Competencies:

  • Microsoft software experience (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint) or comparable
  • Knowledge and ability to conduct professional business communication
  • Event planning
  • Ability to work with multicultural and generational staff and youth
  • Highly organized and detailed
  • Ability to stay focused, efficient, and effective in managing multiple priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to use ethical judgement, works with a high degree of integrity and confidentiality, and has gracious relationship strategies
  • Proven ability to work independently and achieve timely results and accomplishments
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to prioritize, be flexible with changing needs of team, and communicate and coordinate with key staff

Description

PROGRAMS: In each program component, Unity Center (UC) Staff works along with parenets, teachers, schools, youth and families, juvenile centers and other outside agencies in order to provide each individual wiht an appropriate case plan to ensure a successful and positive life style.

SERVICES: Individual, group and family sessions, recreational activities, support to parents and schools along with employment readiness and/or placement for high and at-risk youth.
