The Jewish Board Logo

At Boro Park Counseling Center, we provide individual, couples, family, and group counseling in a comfortable, confidential environment by licensed Frum mental health professionals. Psychiatric evaluations and medication management are available for clients in treatment. We serve people of all ages.

We are looking for volunteers with licensed pet therapy animals to visit our center to spend some quality time with our clients. Spending time with animals is an incredibly therapeutic activity for our clients, and rain or shine, it is always a great way to make them smile.

Mission Statement

JBFCS serves over 55,000 New Yorkers annually from all religious, ethnic, and economic backgrounds through a comprehensive range of 175 community-based programs, residential facilities, and day-treatment centers. Our work is built upon the professionalism and compassion of 2,200 employees, including professional social workers, licensed psychologists, and psychiatrists, as well as a cadre of clinical support personnel in continuing day treatment and residential treatment centers. A corps of 800 dedicated volunteers work with our staff to help ease the burdens that strain and disrupt the lives of our clients.

Description

What began over a century ago as a network of volunteers bringing food and clothing to poor Jewish families is now one of the nation's largest and most comprehensive mental health and social service agencies. Leaders in the field of human services, we proudly serve people of all faiths, races and cultures promoting well-being, resilience and self-sufficiency for individuals and families at every stage of life. Service defines us best. Every night of the year, more than 1,000 men, women and children sleep in residences under our care. Every week of the year, more than 2,500 people receive counseling from professionals on our staff . JBFCS, a beneficiary of the UJA-Federation of New York, is a place of clinical excellence and compassionate care: For the mother and her children seeking refuge from domestic violence. For the family coping with caring for a developmentally disabled child. For the parent facing depression and despair following job loss. For the couple struggling to maintain a loving relationship. For the toddler showing early signs of developmental delays. For the child bearing the trauma of abuse and neglect. For the teen grappling with the challenges of mental illness and becoming a productive young adult. For the older adult fighting depression and anxiety related to age and loss. Whatever the stage of life, whatever the overwhelming stress may be, JBFCS represents this city's most experienced first line of response.
