Health care volunteers are "compassionate strangers" to patients, participants, clients and their families.

Most likely never having met before, volunteers will support refugees and decrease their burden and anxiety, engage and support during their care, and give hope through compassionate companionship.

Activities include but are not limited to:

  • Escorting patients from the clinic to the on-site pharmacy and lab

  • Helping patients find different locations on the Alexander Park campus

  • Assisting patients who need help sorting through their mail

  • Helping patients get medications filled at the on-site pharmacy

  • Ensuring that patients in the waiting room have been checked in

  • Assisting patients with contacting their transportation after they have completed their office visit
