TOOL MANAGER
Description: VOC projects require a variety of tools and equipment to be successful. Every major project has a tool manager and an assistant tool manager who plan and manage the tool requirements. As a tool manager, you will work with the project team to determine which project equipment and tools are required. You will ensure tools, project supplies, and crew chef equipment are transported to the project site, and that volunteer crews have proper and operable equipment.

Learn about the details and logistics of orchestrating outdoor volunteer projects
Help ensure the safety of volunteers by planning and supplying appropriate tools
Requirements:
Volunteer on at least 2 prior VOC projects
Clean driving record (few or no minor violations; no felonies)
Comfort driving large vehicles (pickup trucks or 16’-24’ box trucks depending on project needs)
Serve as an assistant tool manager under the mentorship of an experienced tool manager on at least 2 VOC projects
There is no formal training; proficiency is gained through mentorship as an assistant tool manager
Commitment:
Practice safe driving
Be punctual and communicate with project team and VOC staff members as appropriate
Time commitment varies depending on the project, but usually includes extra time one or two days leading up to the project, and extra time unloading afterward
Attend project team meetings; depending on the size and scope of the project, this can be anywhere between 1-3 meetings
You may choose to serve as an assistant tool manager on any project
Length of Term: You may remain a tool manager as long as you maintain a clean driving record and exhibit safe driving practices.
You are not required to serve as a tool manageror assistant tool manager every time you volunteer.
