In partnership with the City of Issaquah, Mountains to Sound Greenway volunteers will help protect the ecological health of this beautiful second growth forest. Timberlake Park is located on the south shore of Lake Sammamish, between the lake and Interstate 90. Although it contains one of the largest stands of intact second-growth Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar trees along the lake, the park still has issues with invasive species such as English ivy, blackberry, cherry laurel, and English holly. These invasive plants threaten biodiversity, do not provide adequate shelter for wildlife and fish and their competition jeopardizes the ability of this second growth forest to regenerate naturally. Volunteers will help remove English ivy in order to continue the restoration of this quiet lakeside park.
