ORGANIZATION: Our House of Portland

Our House Logo

Our House provides healthcare, housing, occupational therapy, and other vital services to those in need living with HIV. Our House has been part of the Portland community since 1988. Our services have expanded but our commitment to people living with HIV has remained the same. HIV is a complex and challenging disease that can often be overwhelming.

We operate a Residential Care Facility for 14 residents living with HIV/AIDS. We offer our residents three meals a day, seven days a week as our nutrition is crucial to our health and well being. If you enjoy connecting with folks over food and want to end your week by serving your community, Our House has the perfect opportunity for you!

We are searching for volunteer breakfast helpers. This is a weekly breakfast shift which starts at 7:30am and ends at 11:00am. We are specifically looking to recruit volunteers for Thursdays and Fridays but looking for support everyday!

Every morning we offer a short order style breakfast to our 14 residents. These meals are cooked to order by our volunteer cooks with the assistance and guidance of our Kitchen Manager. Breakfast helpers assist cooks with taking orders, chatting with our residents, serving breakfast and helping clean up.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Prep breakfast ingredients
  • Complete food order log
  • Dish washing
  • Following food safety guidelines and procedures
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness
