Referral and Support Peer Volunteer will:

● Work collaboratively with staff, Fundraising Committee, and Executive Director to understand staffing and resource needs to influence social media fundraising strategy

● Work collaboratively with Referral and Support Coordinator and Executive Director to discuss family needs and how MCL can assist with their needs

● Develop rapport with families

● Attend trainings to help implement tools and tactics to help improve lives of the peers MCL supports

● Work collaboratively with community resources

Responsibilities include:

● Attend biweekly meeting to discuss families and peers whom MCL is assisting

● Meet with families or peer 2-4 hours a week to assist with their needs either in person or over the phone

● Communicate with referral and support coordinator on a weekly basis in regards to how their peer or family is doing

Minimum Requirements:

● English Speaker - additional languages would be beneficial

● Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with people of different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and professions

● Willingness to learn project management skills

● Ability to write effectively

● Willingness to reach out to community resources

● Willingness to take initiative in assisting families and individuals

● An ability to work with a team

● An ability to manage time and to coordinate according to different variables

Desired Requirements:

● Strong communication skills

● A passion to make a difference in the community through the support given to individuals and families

● Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others on projects

● Demonstrated leadership and initiative
