Kings County Tennis League (KCTL) is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to teach tennis to kids in underserved Bedfod-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn communities. Tennis skills are helpful, but not required.
KCTL's free summer season classes will operate on Saturdays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, June 3 through September 23, at five different public housing developments in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Volunteers must commit to a minimum of two classes per month.
To qualify, all volunteers are required to participate in a pre-season training session on April 22, 23, or 29. Training will provide anyone who has a positive attitude with the right tools to use tennis as a means for inspiration.
Volunteers will receive a KCTL team jersey, free racquet stringing, and invitations to volunteer social events as a thank you for their time and hard work.
Founded in 2010, KCTL is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that uses tennis year-round as an instrument for youth development and community building in public housing developments in Brooklyn. By bringing tennis directly to kids where they live, KCTL seeks to build a future in which all children in Brooklyn have regular access to a healthy activity that stimulates their personal growth and exposes them to new concepts, cultures, people, and possibilities.
