ORGANIZATION: THE POWER OF SONG INC

  • 19 people are interested

The co-founders of The Power of Song Inc., CEO/Artistic Director and the president are looking for volunteer personal assistants with potential for paid opportunities as the organization grows. The administrative assistants will work with the CEO and with the president in executing projects for a 2-year-old non-profit that educates youth and communities about social justice issues through its productions.

The Power of Song produces the official kick-off event for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service volunteer programs in St. Petersburg, Fla. and includes more than 120 people in the production with audience of 2,500 over the weekend before the MLK Holiday. The production went to stage in Pasadena, Calif. for the first time on Feb. 19, 2017 at the Ambassador Auditorium.

The specific responsibilities include:

-Helping organize travel for productions;

-Assisting with the CEO's and the president's scheduling pre-production, during events and post-production (essentially, the executives' right hand);

-Managing reservations and activities during events and production weekends

-In this role, the person is expected to travel with the organization to carry out the previously discussed responsibilities. The organization's most significant projects take place in the Tampa Bay (FL) area. Travel annually includes a production in St. Petersburg, Fla., the weekend before the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (usually the first or second weekend in January). Additionally, there may be 2 to 3 additional trips/events in St. Petersburg annually. Other locations across the country also are possible, typically in January and February, largely on weekends. International performances are possible in the future and would require a passport.

*The Power of Song Inc. pays travel costs for these roles, including flight, hotel and some meals regardless of volunteer or paid status of the person.
