Silverado Comfort Care Hospice

Hello Potential Volunteer!

Help out with Silverado's Petals for Patient's Program on Mondays through Wednesdays.

We believe in the power of flowers, beauty and nature to heal the spirit and nourish the soul. We are always looking for more volunteers to help pick up and /or deliver fresh flowers (donated by Whole Foods and Trader Joes) to terminally ill hospice patients, many of whom have no family or friends. Our patients are located from East Palo Alto to Pacifica,m San Mateo county, and San Francisco County. We will make sure to assign you someone near your preferred area of delivery.

Pick up is Monday -Wednesday, in San Mateo between 12:30-4pm.

Delivery can be scheduled for anytime during the week but we do want to bring the freshest flowers to patients especially since donated flowers are recycled flowers

Our goal is to show our patient's that someone is thinking of them at a difficult and often lonely time. We recycle flowers donated by various stores and gardens and create beautiful arrangements. Flowers are delivered to each patient.

WE RESPECTFULLY ONLY ASK FOR SERIOUS VOLUNTEER APPLICATNTS. APPLICATION PROCESS CAN BE LENGTHY AND WE WANT TO MAKE SURE OUR TIME AWAY FROM PATIENT CARE IS TO ENSURE MORE VISITS WITH PATIENTS IN THE LONG RUN.

Mission Statement

MISSION Silverado Hospice’s mission is to affirm the cycle of life by enhancing the quality of living for those at the end of life. The Silverado standard is to care compassionately for patients and their families and to empower those we serve to have quality of life options that afford them comfort and dignity.

Description

*We serve San Francisco and San Mateo Counties*

Silverado Hospice honors the value of each life by empowering the patient and family to make supported choices in end-of-life care, enhancing comfort, relieving suffering and supporting effective grieving.

We believe that Silverado Hospice patients have the right to continue life to the fullest extent possible according to their circumstances, and in fostering opportunities for growth and fulfillment. We further recognize a patient and their family’s decision-making rights in relation to continuing medical treatments as well as their right to withdraw treatment when its benefits are outweighed by their burdens.

At Silverado Hospice, we provide our staff with a well-organized, positive and motivating work environment that promotes their independence and decision-making at the lowest level practical. We value their input and provide them with extensive staff training and a competitive compensation package.

A maximum effectiveness and efficiency of services is maintained by staying on the leading edge of new research findings, participating with ongoing research projects, focusing on disease prevention and chronic disease management. Furthermore, Silverado will continuously develop new and innovative systems and techniques to prolong its patients’ ability to live a dignified life, relate to their family and meet the needs of our referral parties and staff by providing the highest quality cost-effective services to our patients on a day-to-day basis
