ANIMAL ADOPTION EVENT Coordinator

What we need: An organized, reliable, and passionate individual to serve on our Adoption Event team and help coordinator events in either Maryland or Virginia

Qualifications/Requirements: No experience necessary (we will train you!), but experience managing a team is always helpful. You need to know how to inspire and motivate volunteers, while making them feel valued and keeping everyone safe. This requires about 3-4 hours of your time the week of the event (includes preparation in advance, set up and break down, as well as the 2 hour event).

What DC PAWS provides : We provide training as well as an Event Coordinator Handbook.

How does the process work: Each location is once a month, the week of your adoption event, you will identify volunteer needs and work with the Volunteer Coordinator and Foster Team Lead to secure volunteers and foster animals to attend the adoption event. This often includes lining up rides to and from the event for foster animals whose fosters are unable to attend the event. At the event, you will set up the table and speak with prospective adopters, fosters, and volunteers while maintaining a safe environment for all.

Our goal is to designate two leads for each event so we have a back-up leader.

How we are different than other rescues: We are committed to 100% positive reinforcement and have a supportive training and enrichment program for our volunteers.

Why you should become a Adoption Event Lead: Meeting potential adopters is critical for our animals to find a forever home. As an all-volunteer rescue, we rely heavily upon our adoption events to gain valuable exposure for our adoptable animals. Adoption events are the perfect opportunity for prospective adopters to meet our animals.

We host numerous monthly adoption events in VA and you can identify one or more you’d like to support regularly. You can find the locations on our event calendar.

DC PAWS Rescue is an all-volunteer, foster-based 501c3 rescue that saves stray, neglected, unwanted and abused animals from rural animal control facilities and places them in safe and loving foster and adoptive homes in the Washington, DC area.

We believe there is more to rescue than placing shelter animals into forever homes. We believe that rescue should support the people who support the rescue, and support the needs of the dogs and cats on their journey to a forever home.
