What we need: Organized, reliable, and personable individuals to assist us with screening and approving general volunteers for our rescue. This includes adoption event volunteers and handlers, home visit volunteers, and drivers for our dogs and cats (to/from adoption events, transports, and vet appointments).
Qualifications/Requirements: No experience necessary (we will train you!), but recruiting experience is always helpful. You need the ability to respond to prospective volunteers assigned to you within 24-48 hours. Ideally, you will have a minimum of 2-4 hours a week to dedicate to screening.
What DC PAWS provides : We provide training as well as a guide to the Volunteer Screening process. We have rescue software that dramatically minimizes data entry.
How does the process work: Once a Volunteer application is assigned to you, you will review it and determine what the candidate is interested in doing and process accordingly. If the candidate is interested in Fostering, you will forward the application to the Foster Screening Team. If the candidate is interested in a special role, you will flag the application for leadership. Otherwise, you will send the candidate an introductory email outlining our basic volunteer opportunities, as well as the Volunteer waiver and other relevant forms to sign. Once the forms are signed, you will add them to our database (one-click!) and email distribution list.
How we are different than other rescues: We are committed to 100% positive reinforcement and have a supportive training and enrichment program for our volunteers.
Why you should become a Volunteer Screener: As an all-volunteer rescue, we rely heavily upon our volunteers and need to expand our Volunteer Screening team so that we can approve and on-board volunteers more efficiently.
To explore this opportunity further, please complete a volunteer questionnaire and indicate you are interested in being a part of the Volunteer Screening Team.
About DC PAWS Rescue
DC PAWS Rescue is an all-volunteer, foster-based 501c3 rescue that saves stray, neglected, unwanted and abused animals from rural animal control facilities and places them in safe and loving foster and adoptive homes in the Washington, DC area.
We believe there is more to rescue than placing shelter animals into forever homes. We believe that rescue should support the people who support the rescue, and support the needs of the dogs and cats on their journey to a forever home.More opportunities with DC PAWS RESCUE
