The Texas Health and Human Services helps low-income families with basic food, financial, medical and nursing home assistance.

Greet and check in customers when they arrive to learn of their particular need and direct them to the correct area of service by working closely with the clerks. Provide an immediate response to customers by accepting verification and applications, check applications for completeness to insure signature present, date stamp applications and verification, and complete receipts for items turned in by customers. In addition, make copies for applicants/recipients visiting the office plus additional duties as needed - answer the phone, collate forms and copy documents.

Description

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission offers a learning opportunity in the Eligibility Services Program. This program helps to provide low-income families with basic food, financial and medical assistance through the following programs: Food Stamps, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, (TANF), and Medicaid. Tasks available to volunteers are varied and placement is based upon the volunteer's interest, capability and the availability of openings. This placement offers valuable office experience and an insight into social services and the relationships between federal, state, community and individual needs.
