The Health and Human Services helps low-income families with basic food, financial and medical assistance.
Volunteers are needed to help with such tasks as: handle and process mail, complete reports, greet customers and make agency and community referrals for clients, assist applicants complete forms for assistance, collate forms, copy and fax documents, switchboard duties and interpreting services.
Or, assist in conducting a canned food drive for the office emergency food pantry.

Description
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission offers a learning opportunity in the Eligibility Services Program. This program helps to provide low-income families with basic food, financial and medical assistance through the following programs: Food Stamps, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, (TANF), and Medicaid. Tasks available to volunteers are varied and placement is based upon the volunteer's interest, capability and the availability of openings. This placement offers valuable office experience and an insight into social services and the relationships between federal, state, community and individual needs.
