ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - Western PA Region

PLACEMENT PURPOSE
The position exists primarily to review a fire safety checklist with the resident, assist the resident in completing a home fire escape plan, and review priority hazard risk and preparedness steps/protective actions. It is part of a smoke alarm home visit team.

OPEN TIME DAYS
5-10 hours per weekend, once a quarter on average

REQUIRED TRAINING
  • American Red Cross Volunteer Orientation
  • Disaster Services: An Overview (optional)
  • Home Fire Preparedness Campaign Guidance and Training:Safety for Home Visits, Fire Safety and Disaster Education.
