Volunteers are needed to work with children, youth and adults in a variety of community-based programs, including Homework Help, Computer Lab, Exploring the Arts, Reading Club, Girls Group and Boys Group. Programs are run at centers located in Fairfax City (near GMU), Fairfax (near Fair Oaks Mall), Centreville (near Centreville Library) and Annandale (off Little River Turnpike at Heritage). Volunteers are asked to make a commitment of one hour a week for two to nine months, depending on the length of the program. Minimum age is 16 for this opportunity.

Mission Statement

FACETS opens doors by helping parents, their children, and individuals who suffer the effects of poverty - so often unnoticed - in Fairfax County. We meet their emergency shelter, food, and medical needs, help them gain safe, sustainable, and permanent housing, and work with them to end the cycle of homelessness and poverty through educational, life skills, and career counseling programs.

Description

FACETS envisions a day when everyone in Fairfax County has access to adequate and affordable housing and nobody is homeless. We seek to engage and educate our community in providing long-term solutions and resources to break the cycle of poverty for our neighbors in need.
