PLACEMENT PURPOSE
The program involving Dendreon serves cancer patients. The first phase of the Provenge therapy is for the patient to come to the Red Cross for a leukapheresis procedure. This procedure is performed using a machine called the COBE Spectra which circulates the patient’s blood through the machine and collects specific cells from the patient. The blood product collected is then sent to Dendreon for manufacturing. After manufacturing, the product is ready for reinfusion by the patient’s physician. Each patient received 3 leukapheresis procedures and 3 reinfusion’s to complete their course of treatment.
OPEN TIME DAYS
Volunteers are scheduled during the shifts below. 1 shift a week preferred based on availability｠(times can be broken down into smaller shifts of 2-4 hours)
Monday, Tuesday and Friday shifts:
8:00 am - 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm｠
