PLACEMENT PURPOSE
Assist Red Cross in delivering mission by informing public of Disaster Action Team's response to local incidents.
OPEN TIME DAYS
Three (3) shifts available.
On-call 2 times a month.
Day shift: 8:30am - 4:30pm each day. The exact amount of hours of commitment varies as disaster events are unpredictable and often happen in waves (e.g. lots of calls one week then none for a couple of weeks.)
Night shift:⦆4:30pm - 8:30am each day. The exact amount of hours of commitment varies as disaster events are unpredictable and often happen in waves (e.g. lots of calls one week then none for a couple of weeks.)
Weekend shift:⦆Begins on Friday evening⦆4:30 pm and⦆include the entire weekend until Monday at 8:30am

Chapter Response to Disaster (8 hrs) classroom based course
Fulfilling our Mission (as available) (4 hrs) classroom based course
Completion of volunteer application, New Employee and Volunteer Orientation (2 hrs), Introduction to Disaster Service (2 hr), Disaster Public Affairs Overview - online self study courses
Familiarity with Red Cross policies, regulations, and procedures especially the Disaster Response Handbook, Public Affairs Handbook, the chapter's disaster response plan, and the chapter's disaster public affairs plan
Fundamentals of Disaster Public Affairs: The Local Response (6.5 hrs) (as available)
